Alabama has a rich tradition in golf that includes the building of the renowned Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, 11 different golf clubs across the state, begun in the 1980s to promote tourism.
And remember, Alabama is blessed with warmth and sunshine most of the year. In the south, spring comes in early March; summer days generally average in the 80s. As you explore the state, let CountryClubs.com help you search for a golfing lifestyle.
From the Gulf to lakes to woodlands — country clubs and private golf communities are everywhere
Some golf communities line fairways of the Jones Trail, including Ross Bridge in Hoover and Eastwood at Capitol Hill. Recently, the Gulf Shores area has exploded with golf as well as marinas, private beaches, swimming and tennis. You’ll find the Peninsula, a gated community with 27 holes of golf, bordered by a wildlife refuge, and Kiva Dunes, with a Jerry Pate course built on a strip of dunes separating Mobile Bay and the Gulf. Other prestigious and scenic clubs include Wynlakes in Montgomery, Greystone in Birmingham and Steelwood on a private lake in Loxley.
