Description
Got Milk and Got Golf in Wisconsin.
Once known mainly as a paradise for dairy cows and bass fishermen, Wisconsin has been coming on strong in the golfing world since the 1980s. That’s when the Kohler Co. launched its famous golf resort, the American Club near Lake Michigan. The Kohler courses at Blackwolf Run and Whistling Straits, designed by Pete Dye, draw major tournaments, including the PGA Championship for 2010, and have inspired many outstanding golf clubs in the state. The club has helped put Wisconsin golf on the map and made it a destination for golf lovers from throughout the Midwest.
A great example of newer clubs is Geneva National, a luxurious resort on Lake Como, with 54 holes of golf by Arnold Palmer, Gary Player and Lee Trevino. Here amid stately walnuts, oaks and elms, there is also a community of homes and condominiums.
Great golf communities located in Wisconsin’s countryside
But there’s much more to choose from including communities at: Troy Burne Golf Club in the St. Croix River Valley; Hawk’s Landing, a semi-private club near Madison; and Horseshoe Bay, a private club near Egg Harbor in Door County.
